Grimsby

NEW contributor and National Leagues expert Callum Jones (@goaldust) shares his best bets from the non-league pyramid on Saturday.

Braintree v Boreham Wood | Saturday 15.00

This one hardly screams ‘cracker’ with the home side generally 5/6 to reap their revenge for a 1-0 reverse on Boxing Day but I think going under the goals line could be the way to go.

There’s been a total of just three goals in Braintree’s last five home league games COMBINED, while Boreham Wood have seen their away matches go over the line just once in the last seven.

Under 2.5 Goals is a measly 8/13, and while both teams have scored just once in the last seven Wood fixtures and four of Braintree’s last 11 on home soil, I’ll take the generous 4/5 (SkyBet) when ticking ‘No’ in the Both Teams To Score column.

Halifax v Lincoln | Saturday 15.00

Halifax have been a revelation since the appointment of Jim Harvey, picking up 14 of 18 points available in six games unbeaten.

They welcome a Lincoln side to the Shay who have shipped eight goals in their previous two visits to West Yorkshire.

Harvey’s side pinched all three points at Sincil Bank on Boxing Day, extending the Imps’ seven-game stretch without a win and I cannot believe they’ve been installed as favourites for this one.

The belief is back at the Shay and 9/5 (William Hill) about a home win is frankly too good to turn down.

Grimsby v Guiseley | Saturday 15.00

Guiseley are certainly hanging in there in their debut season but it’s in spite of their away form rather than as a result of it.

Since the start of the season their road form reads W1-D6-L6 – a return of just nine points from 39 available. They’ve lost four of their last five on their travels and visit a Grimsby side who average 3.3 goals when welcoming bottom-half sides to Blundell Park.

Grimsby look like the real deal this season and look the only team worthy of disputing the title with Cheltenham and Forest Green.

The 3/10 about a home win doesn’t appeal but considering the David v Goliath nature of this match-up, the -1 handicap price (5/6 SkyBet) looks great value.

Best Bets

Braintree v Boreham Wood – Both Teams To Score ‘No’ (4/5 SkyBet)

Halifax v Lincoln – Halifax to win (9/5 William Hill)

Grimsby v Guiseley – Grimsby -1 handicap (5/6 SkyBet)
