NON-LEAGUE expert Paul Maddison (@LouthBigDog) shares his favourite fancies from a Saturday card of National League action.
After an extended winter break for myself – mainly due to work and my emotional breakdown that has come from supporting Grimsby Town, who are in total free-fall and are a shambles both on and off the pitch. Incidentally, Crawley are 13/10 to win at home to the Mariners tomorrow – get on!
My ante-post selections at the start of the season are starting to look good; promotion tip Wrexham are currently top of the league. Tranmere who I tipped for the title are in great form and after a poor start have started to put some good runs of results together and are right in the mix.
My relegation tip of Guiseley is looking very likely unless they can pull of another amazing great escape like they did last season.
Wrexham v Halifax | Saturday 10th February 2018, 15:00
Right, enough of that and lets get down to my bets for this weekend. First up, I’m heading to Wales.
Wrexham have been there or there abouts for the majority of the season. I’ve often said that they have lacked goals to put in a serious challenge for the title, but, with some excellent signings in January they could well have rectified that issue.
They have averaged two goals per-game in their last seven, whilst keeping their solid defensive who have kept four clean sheets in five.
Their opponents are struggling just above the relegation zone – they have lost three in a row, conceding nine goals and have failed to score on the road in three.
A home win is available at 41/50 at Marathon.
Dover v Sutton | Saturday 10th February 2018, 15:00
Down to the south coast for my second game and I believe goals could be on the cards here.
Dover have seen an incredible 29 goals in their last six matches – that’s an average of just over 4.8 goals per-game. Both teams have scored in all these games too showing that although they are good going forward, they could be vulnerable at the back.
Sutton’s last three have all gone Over 2.5 Goals. Sutton have failed to score just once in 12 games so I really fancy there to be goals in this match.
Marathon are offering 13/10 on Over 2.5 Goals and that looks great value.
Eastleigh v Boreham Wood | Saturday 10th February 2018, 15:00
Staying down south and also staying with the goals. Eastleigh’s last six have all gone Over 2.5 Goals, five of them going Over 3.5.
Longer term 16 of 20 have seen three or more goals scored – the four games that fell below the 2.5 mark all contained two goals. All but three of those 20 saw both teams score which is a help to this bet.
Boreham Wood have seen their last five fixtures all feature three or more goals, as well as three that produced Over 4.5 Goals and both sides netting in four of their most recent five.
These seem very strong stats for a goals-based bet. I did contemplate going Over 3.5 Goals (and probably will personally) but I’ll play it a bit safer and recommend Over 2.5 Goals at 5/6 with BetVictor.
