A narrow win for Sevilla last week in this Quarter-Final 1st Leg. Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) previews the second leg.
Zenit St Petersburg v Sevilla | Thursday 20:05
Both these sides have won this competition in recent years (Sevilla last season) and Thursday night’s game should be massive with a semi-final place at stake.
I was all over the Sevilla win to nil bet last week but it fell apart in the first half when Zenit scored. Sevilla did win 2-1 overall though, so it wasn’t far off. While Alexsandr Ryazantsev’s goal scuppered my bet, I do think it will have a pivotal effect on this tie.
Zenit’s home form in Europe is much better than when they’re on the road so I’m expecting them to score on Thursday. If they do that, it means Sevilla need to score again to stay in the competition.
Andre Villas Boas’ side smashed up Dutch champions PSV 3-0 in the Last 32 in Russia and Torino couldn’t score against them at the Petrovsky Stadium in the last round.
So can Zenit keep a home clean sheet like we witnessed in the previous rounds? I’m not so sure. Unai Emery’s side put three past Borussia Monchengladbach and Villarreal away from home in the earlier rounds of the competition so I’m expecting them to notch.
Putting all this together I like the look of 2-3 Goals in the Total Goals market at 21/20 with Sportingbet. With Zenit’s stingy home defence married with Sevilla’s ability away from home I think this spread looks good. I’ll also have a dabble at 9/1 with BetVictor on Zenit wining the fixture 2-1.
