DARTS supremo Boring Winners (@BoringWinners) has been in outstanding form at the World Matchplay. Here’s his verdict on Saturday’s action.
World Matchplay Darts | 29th July 2017 | Sky Sports
Daryl Gurney faces Peter Wright in the first game of the night, followed by a showdown between Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis.
In our tournament preview, we tipped Taylor to win the tournament at 25/1 and Gurney at 80/1, so we could be looking at a huge payday – should both players make the finals.
My main bet for Saturday night’s action is in the Gurney match, followed by another smaller stake bet on the Taylor match.
Peter Wright v Daryl Gurney | Saturday 19:20 | Sky Sports
I’ve gone for over 5.5 legs in the match, Daryl Gurney over 9.5 180’s and Gurney -1.5 180 handicap at 19/10 with William Hill.
Phil Taylor v Adrian Lewis | Saturday 21:45 | Sky Sports
For this matchup, I fancy Phil Taylor to win, both players to hit over six 180s and also both players to check out over 99 at 10/3 with William Hill.
The further this game goes, the greater the possibility it has of landing. I can’t see this going under 26 legs as both players are playing too well at the moment.
I think Taylor will win it, in the end. He was relentless against Michael Van Gerwin on Friday night, Lewis struggled towards the latter end of his match and was nearly beat. You could see the longer the match went the more his back affected him. Taylor should win this.
Both players covered the 180 lines in the quarters with Taylor hitting 10 and Lewis hitting seven. We all know how good Lewis is at 180’s but Taylor can also be clinical in that department. Both should get at least seven 180’s.
As I said yesterday Lewis has been good on the high checkouts as has Taylor. Taylor took out a 122 last night and never looked like missing. Lewis took at a 110, a 136 and a 102 all in the same match yesterday.
