MARK O’Haire (@MarkOHaire) reckons Wolves could put crisis club Leeds to bed comfortably on Easter Monday, enhancing their promotion prospects.

Leeds, Leeds, Leeds. Just when things starting looking up, you’ve gone and pulled that self-destruct trigger. The Yorkshire giants finally appeared to be flourishing with a sense of stability around the club but what a difference a week makes, eh?

Assistant manager Steve Thompson was suspended, leading to Neil Redfearn to contemplate his future as boss. The Whites then went and saw their five-match unbeaten streak ended abruptly as Blackburn ran out 3-0 winners at Elland Road with Rudi Austin getting himself sent off.

Want more? Sure. Rumours are circulating around the club that top-scorer Mirco Antenucci won’t be picked again this season to avoid triggering a contract extension should he reach 12 goals for the season. And all this has come before Leeds travel to promotion-chasing Wolves with 24 hours less preparation time. It’s not ideal.

Hosts Wolves are fourth in the Championship table based on results this calendar year (W9-D4-L3) and that 1.94 points-per-game average is exactly why Kenny Jackett’s men have charged into promotion contention. The run has certainly coincided with the arrival of striker Benik Afobe and his 28th goal of the season proved decisive in their Good Friday victory at Nottingham Forest.

Form at their Molineux base remains strong too. Wolves have four of an unbeaten five-match spell ‘to nil’ and notched 15 goals across those fixtures. And Afobe’s not alone in providing a real menace to opposition defences; both Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko offer pace, power and a directness that make the attacking trident incredibly difficult to stop.

With Leeds seemingly in crisis, backing buoyant Wolves at 7/10 (Ladbrokes) looks the obvious bet to have. The Whites have only lost once in seven on the road but the aforementioned problems, coupled with the fact that the visitors safety is assured, means the hosts should in theory prove too good.

But if we’re looking for something a little bigger, Wolves -1 is available to back at 20/19 with BetVictor on the Asian Handicap line. Taking this selection means, we’ll get our cash back should the hosts only manage a victory by a one-goal margin but should they run out winners by two goals or more, we’ll have ourselves a winner.

Jackett’s hosts have won seven of their 11 home fixtures by a margin of two goals or more this season, including their last five home triumphs. Leeds have lost by the same margin in seven of their nine away defeats this term.
