THE Premier League returns on Tuesday night as Watford welcome Manchester United to Vicarage Road. Ben Levene (@BenLevene96) shares his best bets.
Watford v Manchester United | Tuesday 28th November 2017, 20:00 | BT Sport
Watford sustained their fine form last weekend as they were able to come away from Newcastle as 3-0 winners. The Hornets continue to gain admirers under the impressive Marcos Silva and will be keen to upset the apple-cart again on Tuesday.
Watford have scored an eye-catching 22 goals in the league this season and no doubt Jose Mourinho will be aware of their potential threat.
Watford have already avoided defeat against Liverpool and beaten Arsenal at home this term. They’ve been competitive across all 13 of their league games, barring a 6-0 drubbing by Manchester City. They’ve only lost two games by more than a single goal.
Silva a pragmatist
Marcos Silva is a pragmatist. We can think back to his short-time in charge of Hull last season, when the Tigers drew 0-0 at Old Trafford and beat Liverpool 2-0 at the KCOM.
In just his fourth game in charge, Silva also lead Hull to a 2-1 win over United in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final.
For all their attacking prowess this campaign, Silva will have his side organised and defiant on Tuesday as they looked to achieve a result.
United looking edgy
Since obliterating teams early in the season, United have looked slightly edgy, especially on their travels. They’ve won just two of six away games in the league, scoring only three goals in their last five away from Old Trafford.
Fixture congestion could make things even tougher. United have had two hard-fought games in the last seven days; Paul Pogba recently returned from injury and has often been responsible for adding extra-firepower this season. He started both of those.
Furthermore, United are away at Arsenal this weekend, before travelling to Manchester City the following week.
The betting angles
As we’ve already established, Mourinho will be wary of Watford’s threat and it may be a case of keeping things tight and grinding out three points. As a result of this, I’m happy to turn to the Asian Markets and split stakes between Watford with a +1 start (91/100 BlackType) and Under 2.75 Goals (5/6 BetVictor).
The Asian Handicap angle means we’ll see our stake returned should Man Utd win this match by exactly one goal – a larger United victory will see our stake lost but a home win or draw will see our bet paid out as a winner.
The Asian Goals approach ensures we make money if there’s fewer than three goals. If there’s two goals or fewer we’ll pocket profit and if there’s three goals exactly in total, we’ll only lose half of our stake – we’ll only lose our full stake should the fixture feature four goals or more.
