Tottenham vs Leicester Betting Preview: Foxes forward to shine

Ayoze Perez - Leicester

TOTTENHAM take on Leicester on Super Sunday. Tom Love (@TomLove_18) shares his thoughts on the Premier League encounter.

This has become a huge match for Leicester. For so long they’ve looked assured of a Champions League place but their drop in form since the new year along with the decision to overturn Manchester City’s ban means it’s going to the wire and only two of them, Manchester United and Chelsea are going to make the top four and qualification into the most elite of European competitions.

It is still in the Foxes’ hands though as they lead United on goal difference, and they host them on the final day of the season in which will be a huge game. It would be a major boost if they can get a win here but they will be aware of Spurs’ decent home record.

I’ve still yet to be convinced that Jose Mourinho is getting the most out of this team. Their rotten away record is well documented but they have picked up a decent amount of points on home soil. Leicester have failed to record an away win since New Year’s Day at Newcastle so it’s no surprise to see them chalked up as 9/4 outsiders.

The performance data argues that the visitors should be shorter, and possibility favourites though. Perhaps the bookies have factored in the loss of Ben Chilwell, James Maddison, Ricardo Periera and Caglar Soyuncu into their thinking. All are key players for the Foxes.

It’s one to swerve in the outright markets for me but I will head to the player props market as there is an angle of interest. Ayoze Perez was on the scoresheet against Sheffield United and looked lively, recording three shots. He’s likely to be in a front three again here and has been priced up at 10/11 with Betfair to have two or more shots and that looks nice.

He’s often been used from the bench so looking at his raw numbers they aren’t overly impressive however when you take his per 90 record he’s averaging 2.1 shots per-game. This Spurs side concede a lot of shots, around 14 per-game in fact, and have been a deep lying side under Jose meaning they’re happy to take them on.

Leicester have been firing them in of late too, each of their last five games they’ve recorded at least 13 shots and if they do again here I’d expect the former Newcastle man to be at the heart of the action.
