Tottenham vs Brighton Betting Preview & Tips

THE always-excellent Harley Dale (@Harleeyy) has taken a deep dive into Sunday’s evening Premier League clash between Spurs and Brighton.

Tottenham vs Brighton | Sunday 1st November 2020, 19:15 | Sky Sports Box Office

Brighton travel to London to face Tottenham in a clash where points will be required for both ends of the table.

Tottenham have started the Premier League season well, losing just one of their first six matches and sitting just two points off the top. Despite this, they come into this clash on the back of a defeat to Belgian side Royal Antwerp so Jose Mourinho will need to rally up his team to get back to winning ways.

Conversely, Brighton come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw against relegation-tipped West Brom. Graham Potter would have been disappointed after the full time whistle given that his team were leading up untill the 82nd minute, so he will need to provide some morale into his squad also.

Although Brighton have struggled to pick up points, I admire the way Potter approaches each game with his philosophy, no matter the opposition. There is no doubt this strategy can be dangerous against the big sides, but Brighton will end up creating chances as well as conceding chances.

Whether this approach is worth the risk-to-reward is up for debate, but it certainly provides entertainment from a neutral perspective. As a result, 12 of Brighton’s 14 matches against the Big Six since the start of last season saw Over 2.5 Goals, with Brighton conceding twice or more in 11 of those.

Tottenham are finding their feet this season, particularly with the deadly duo of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son at the front of everything they do going forward, scoring a combined total of 13 goals in just six games and given the likely approach that Brighton will take, I expect this goal tally to increase.

Therefore Harry Kane to score anytime versus the Seagulls at 5/6 (Bet365) holds some value to me. Especially given he found the back of the net in the same fixture last season. Given what I’ve mentioned above, I’m also happy to take a bet builder of Over 2.5 Goals and Over 0.5 First-Half Goals (5/6 Bet365)

Another angle I like is Tariq Lamptey tackles, who will be operating on the same side as Son and new boy Sergio Reguillon, who has already shown glimpses of his attacking threat.

Since Lamptey is a former Chelsea academy player, he should be extra motivated for this clash and get stuck in. He currently averages 2.2 tackles this season, the second most for his club. Brighton will have to work hard if they want to secure at least a point, and Lamptey will have a big job on his hands on that right hand side.

Ladbrokes are offering 13/8 for the wingback to make 3 or more tackles which i’m happy to take. He made 5 tackles in his last encounter against West Brom, so I’m also happy to back 5 or more tackles at a mouth-watering 10/1.

Best Bets
