Champions League finalists Spurs are looking to go one further and win the European title this year. It proves to be a much more difficult task this time round though with Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son sidelined for their Last 16 tie with a vibrant RB Leipzig outfit.
The North London side are ranked along with their counterparts here as outside 33/1 shots to lift the trophy so on paper this is a meeting of two of the weaker teams left in the prestigious tournament which goes to show the quality left in it.
With key men out for Spurs, the same can be said for the Germans who are without defensive lynchpins Willi Orban, Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upemacano, the former two are injured whilst the latter is suspended for their visit to England. I think they’ll be happy if they took a point here all things considered.
However it’s not really the style of Julian Nagelsmann to set up for a draw. Even in their recent draw in the big game against Bayern Munich, Die Roten Bullen had ample chances to win that game and they weren’t playing for a point.
I usually loathed to back a goal-filled game in a tight looking match up in a first leg but I would understand if people got involved with the even-money on Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Goals going off recent form.
I am however wary that Jose Mourinho could revert to type and go hell for leather to avoid Leipzig getting an away goal. It makes it a devilishly difficult game to unpick and as a betting proposition it’s hard to find anything in the more basic markets that holds enough appeal to get involved with.
