Sweden v Norway: Tight derby tussle in-store

Sweden

QUALIFYING for Euro 2020 continues on Sunday and Tom Love (@TomLove_18) is on-hand to shares his views on the Scandinavian derby between Sweden and Norway.

Sweden v Norway | Sunday 8th September 2019, 19:45 | Sky Sports

We have a game on Sunday night with a distinct Scandinavian flavour as Sweden host Norway in Stockholm.

Both sides are in the running for what looks to be a shootout for second place; Sweden currently boast a two-point lead over their Nordic rivals so only a victory for the visitors would see them leapfrog the Swedes.

Sweden dispatched the Faroe Islands last time out winning 4-0. Young Real Sociedad striker Aleksander Isak starred scoring two goals and he’s likely to get the nod once more on Sunday evening. Gaffer Janne Andersson usually opts for a functional 4-4-2, it’s a formation that we have seen the Blågult utilise for years.

Mainz attacking midfielder Robert Quaison was also on the scoresheet in Torshavn and he’s likely to play wide with the experiences Seb Larsson on the other flank to provide balance.

Norway eventually got past Malta 2-0 but it wasn’t all plain sailing. They too have an interesting squad and play in quite a traditional way.

I anticipate quite a tight and evenly fought game, the standout looks to be the Half-Time Draw at 11/10 with Bet365. It’s a big game and I expect it to be tight, at least for the opening exchanges.

Group dynamics play a massive part in these games I think and a draw wouldn’t be a disaster for Sweden, it will keep the gap between the two for the time being. Norway will want to be competitive and a stalemate at the break makes appeal.
