Sunday’s Scottish Betting Preview & Tips: A Teddy Bear picnic at Ibrox

Gerrard - Rangers

SCOTTISH football aficionado Gerry Taylor (@thefurlongpole) shares his verdict on Sunday’s best bets from the Premiership schedule.

Motherwell vs Celtic | Sunday 8th November 2020, 12:00 | Sky Sports

Pressure is mounting again on Neil Lennon, especially after the debacle on Thursday evening at Celtic Park. The 4-1 defeat by Sparta Prague leaves Celtic marooned at the bottom of the Europa League Group H with only one point. Domestically they are nine points behind Rangers, so can’t afford to ship any more points here.

Motherwell, on the other hand, are in fine fettle at the moment. Twelve out of 15 has been their points haul recently, only losing to Rangers in the middle of that excellent run – they have also been very productive, scoring 11 goals in that sequence.

Stephen Robinson will have his Steelmen up for this one, sensing that the Hoops defence could be vulnerable, especially as the visitors have leaked 14 goals in their last six matches.

Therefore, the Steelmen to score Over 1.5 Goals (7/2 Bet365)is perhaps worth an interest.

Mark O’Hara has been playing well recently, having been moved from midfield to a centre-back role in this good run for the Lanarkshire hosts. As he is on penalty-kick duty, I would like to flag up a few of my speculative punts on him: to score anytime (12/1 Bet365) and to net twice or more (150/1 William Hill).

Rangers v Hamilton | Sunday 8th November 2020, 15:00

Despite being pegged back from leading 3-1 in Portugal on Thursday evening to ultimately draw 3-3 to 10-man Benfica, Steven Gerrard and his Rangers staff will take positives and perhaps the lessons learned will stand them in good stead for their remaining Europa League campaign.

Hamilton, conversely to their hosts, have been on a horrible run – conceding 15 goals in their last five league matches. So really Brian Rice’s charges are there for the taking.

The Gers will rotate the team for this one and could score as many as they want to in Govan on Sunday afternoon. This match should really be a picnic for the in-form Teddy Bears, so I’ve tried to be a bit creative to come up with an almost even-money wager: Rangers to score Over 1 Goal, Hamilton to score Under 1 Goal (20/21 Bet365).

Best Bets

Motherwell vs Celtic – Motherwell to score Over 1.5 Goals (7/2 Bet365)

Motherwell vs Celtic – Mark O’Hara to score at anytime (12/1 Bet365)

Motherwell vs Celtic – Mark O’Hara to score 2+ goals (150/1 William Hill)

Rangers vs Hamilton – Rangers to score Over 1 Goal, Hamilton to score Under 1 Goal (20/21 Bet365)
