St Johnstone v Aberdeen Tips | 23rd January 2014 | BT Sport 1

LIVE on BT Sport 1 tonight, Aberdeen look to return to the top of the Scottish Premiership when they meet St Johnstone. We asked Chris Graham (@chrisgraham79) for his best bet.

St Johnstone v Aberdeen | Friday 19:45 | BT Sport 1

Big test for Aberdeen this isn’t it? Derek McInnes’ side saw their seven match winning run end on Saturday when they drew 3-3 with Dundee. How will they react to that?

The manner of the draw breeds hope for Aberdeen though. 3-1 down with five minutes to go, Johnny Hayes and Ryan Jack scored late on to snatch a point. Do you think the Dons squad left Pittodrie buzzing on Saturday or a wee bit deflated? Who knows.

Since then Celtic have won one of their games in hand and are now back on top of the Premiership. Again, it will be interesting to see how Aberdeen deal with that.

The Dons are best price 5/6 with Betfred to pick up the three points and that looks just a teeny weeny bit short for me. As I’ve mentioned many times, I have a deep aversion to backing sides at odds on in Scotland. I’d rather have a pint with Peter Andre.

The league is so hard to call and you get quite a few WTF results that leave you scratching your head for hours on end. I mean, after not conceding a goal since mid-November who could have foreseen the Dons leaking three to bottom-half Dundee on Saturday? Yeah there are too many question marks for me over Aberdeen to get involved.

Let’s not forget St Johnstone here. Ladbrokes have chalked them up at a hunky 4/1 and on home turf that’s definitely worth a second glance. After a poor start to the season (Cup Final hangover anyone?), Saints started to strut around like peacocks around Halloween time.

Eight wins in their last 12 games have followed and it’s their home form that’s been the bedrock of that success. Tommy Wright’s side are P7 W6 D0 L1 at McDiarmid Park and that simply has to be respected.

At the prices I’m delighted to side with St Johnstone here. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they won with that amazing home record  and question marks over Aberdeen after Saturday.

I’ll back them off 0 on the Asian Handicap with 888 Sport at 21/10. If they win I get paid out, if they draw I get my cash back.
