DANIEL MCCULLOCH (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his thoughts on Sunday’s FA Cup 4th Round clash between Shrewsbury and Liverpool.
Shrewsbury v Liverpool | Sunday 26th January 2020, 17:00 | BBC1
Liverpool visit Shropshire on Sunday afternoon to face a side in 16th place in League One, who have little prospect of relegation or a promotion push.
This is clearly a huge encounter for the home side and they will have taken some confidence from knocking a decent Championship side – Bristol City – out in the last round.
Still, this is an altogether tougher proposition, even if we expect a much changed Liverpool side from the one who beat Wolves on Thursday night.
Looking at the predicted Liverpool line up, it is expected to be similar to the last round against Everton, where a youthful side overcame their closest rivals by a goal to nil.
I expect such a side to have too much for Shrewsbury but don’t think it will be an emphatic victory. The Shrews league games have averaged just 2.08 goals per game this season (scoring 24.and conceding 28 goals) and a much-changed Liverpool side is surely likely to lack fluency.
All things considered, I think a Liverpool victory and Under 3.5 Goals is the angle I like most. That is available at 5/4 with Skybet.
I wouldn’t put the more conservative of you off keeping another goal on your side, with Liverpool and Under 4.5 Goals available at 3/4. I, however, think the more aggressive play is the way to go on this occasion.
