Serie A Tips | 23rd September 2015

A stunning weekend for Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz), he’s back this midweek on the hunt for more winners.

Carpi v Napoli | Wednesday 19:45

Napoli have finally turned round their season after two fantastic wins over Club Brugge and Lazio last week. As a big fan of new coach Maurizio Sarri I’ve finally been pleased and what I’ve been seeing at the San Paolo. Sarri showed his underestimated quality in the way his side without fuss dismantled these teams.

I’m happy to back them again on Wednesday and I expect them to finish off Carpi without many problems. The home side are a really defensive team but the quality of Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain should be too much for the minnows of Serie A.

Insigne is at the peak of his career just now and I rate him among the Top 5 Italian talents currently. Scoring more than one goal in this match should be a simple job for Napoli as they’ve achieved that in their last four matches so that’s what I’ll be backing.

Fiorentina v Bologna | Wednesday 19:45

Fiorentina under Paulo Sousa look a different animal in recent weeks. Gone is the flamboyant style of their friendly win over Barcelona and they now seem a lot more prudent and cautious.

They had a decent transfer window with the signings of Mario Suarez and Kuba Błaszczykowski, but they might see their best form return when the vital Giuseppe Rossi returns from injury.

Bologna don’t look a competitive side in Serie A so far. They even struggled in Serie B, gaining their promotion only at the end of the playoffs, and after being overtaken by Frosinone and Carpi.

This shouldn’t be a spectacular match, but I’m confident Fiorentina will get the three points thanks to the quality of their offensive starters.

Palermo v Sassuolo | Wednesday 19:45

Sassuolo are one of the most entertaining teams in the Serie A and I do like the quality they have upfront with Gregoire Defrel, Domenico Berardi and Nicola Sansone. They’re capable of scoring against any defence and their capacity for creating chances is something to consider.

Palermo will not repeat the season they had in 2014-15, as they lack the quality they had months ago but they should always be respected when playing at home. Due to their decent home form I’ll be Both Teams To Score in this match.

Sampdoria v Roma | Wednesday 19:45 | BT Sport Europe

We’re still trying to understand what the 2015/16 AS Roma looks like this season. They’ve had some wonderful performances against the likes of Juventus and Barcelona but also poor ones against the likes of Sassuolo last time out.

Sampdoria are another team who will struggle a lot this season, having lost their coach Sinisa Mijalovic and a number of important players. Their offensive quality is still good though, with the likes of Eder and Luis Muriel, but their problems are in defence as I’ve highlighted before.

Roma simply rotated too many players against Sassuolo and coach Luis Garcia will be keen to win this with the usual starters. A renewed Roma with Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah in the line up should be too much for Sampdoria.
