Fiorentina are a much more improved team in recent times, as their transfer window rebuilding seems to have clicked at last.
They are unbeaten in their last five, and those include two important draws against Napoli and Lazio. At home, they are scoring goals with some regularity: they have scored three against Sassuolo and Samp, also two in their defeat against AS Roma.
On Sunday they host Genoa, whose defensive line has often been a problem this season. To be honest, since Davide Ballardini took the job he seems to have found a new defensive structure, keeping their goal unviolated in two of their last five matches.
But these results were against small sides and Fiorentina should have the right weapons to overcome a dodgy defence. Back the Viola to win with Over 1.5 goals in the match.
Sampdoria v Sassuolo | Sunday 14:00
I will have a similar bet here, backing Sampdoria simply to score more than one goal. The blucerchiati home record has been stunning so far, as they’ve only be stopped by Lazio last Sunday. Before that, they dominated everyone coming to Marassi, including Juventus who were penetrated three times in the second half.
I am backing this scoring trend to continue against one of the most disappointing clubs of Serie A: Sassuolo.
Away from home they concede an average of more than two goals per game so this bet seems to have solid stats in support.
Atalanta v Lazio | Sunday 19:45 | BT Sport 3
This match should be a cracker, with Lazio and Atalanta facing each other on Sunday evening. I’ve often praised Lazio’s mentality and their season has been really impressive, despite some unlucky performances at home.
It’s fair to mention that they’ve dropped points to Torino and Fiorentina but they dominated those games.
Atalanta are not repeating their form from last season, but this is entirely due to their Europe League campaign. They’ve dominated their group beating Everton and Lyon, and this inevitably has had an impact on their domestic action.
Atalanta do not have a deep squad, so they are not able to rotate much. But their ability to score does not seems to be affected. That is why I am backing goals galore at Bergamo, despite Ciro Immobile missing, with both teams capable of winning or losing here.
