Serie A: Champions to sharpen up their defensive display this Sunday

Gonzala-Higuain - Juventus

OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) looks to continue his hot streak in Serie A with his best Sunday selections.

AC Milan v Torino | Sunday 14:00 | BT Sport 3

After almost half the season AC Milan have still not found decent form and their results have been far from exciting.

They should win Sunday’s contest against Torino but I don’t rate their ability to keep a clean sheet as their defensive form has been an absolute nightmare.

I am usually a goal backer when Torino are involved, and I give them enough chances to score at San Siro.

Over 2.5 Goals is the same odds than a home win but I much prefer goals and will be going for that selection here in San Siro.

Genoa v Roma | Sunday 14:00 | BT Sport

Roma should continue their hot form, partially interrupted after their 2-0 defeat against Atletico. This defeat was not so dangerous though as they have a huge chance to seal Champions League qualification at home in Matchday 6.

In Serie A action Roma are keeping up brilliant form: they arrive here on five consecutive wins, including the last two against Fiorentina and Lazio.

The game in Genoa should be far from easy. As I have underlined many times the grifoni have found the net with some regularity and that could be the case again. That is why I’ll back a goal option here and take Roma to score Over 1.5 Goals.

Udinese v Napoli | Sunday 14:00

Udinese have changed their manager but still this game should be no contest. Napoli are obliged to win, especially after Inter’s 3-1 to Cagliari, to retain their league lead.

Udinese’s form is far from their glorious days. Juventus have been able to score six goals here with one man down and despite not expecting the same here, I think Napoli will be able to exploit defensive weaknesses and win with relative comfort.

Lazio v Fiorentina | Sunday 17:00 | BT Sport 3

Lazio’s incredible run was stopped in the derby, as Roma were able to take advantage of their superior quality winning the match 2-1. Still, I do admire Lazio’s mentality a lot and I rate them highly as a team.

That is why they should have no trouble winning against Fiorentina at the Olimpico. Away from the Artemio Franchi, the Viola have won only against Benevento and Verona, while losing against Inter, Chievo and even Crotone.

Juventus v Crotone | Sunday 19:45 | BT Sport 3

Juve should be able to keep a home clean sheet after three consecutive failures to do just that. This is my angle for this bet and I’m relying on Crotone’s defensive mindset to see this through.

Three points for the bianconeri should not be an issue and I am adding this extra option in order to have better odds.
