OUR man in Italy, Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) returns to look at Sunday’s action from Serie A.
Cagliari vs Inter | Sunday 13th December 2020, 11:30 | Premier Sports
Tragedy has just occurred for Inter, being eliminated from Champions League action after a depressing 0-0 draw against Shaktar.
The Neroazzurri will try to focus all their efforts to win the league, and I do see them as serious contenders after nine consecutive Juventus titles. If they want to keep their chances alive though, a win is the only possible option against Cagliari, and this is not the hardest task you can imagine for such a talented side.
I will back them in the goals market given their defensive unreliability so far: with 14 goals conceded they have the worst defensive record in the top-six, but also the best offense in the league with an average of 2.6 goals scored per-game.
Bologna vs Roma | Sunday 13th December 2020, 14:00 | Premier Sports
Roma come from a heavy 3-1 defeat in midweek against CSKA Sofia. But, the Giallorossi were already qualified in the Europa League group stage and they travelled to Bulgaria with no motivation.
Instead, they will need to bounce back in Serie A where they collected just one point in last two games and must come out with a victory from Bologna. Their away record says W2-D1-L2 but this does not tell the whole story: one loss is a 3-0 ruled by Serie A for a mistake in their match report, and the other a defeat against Napoli in a dramatic match played a couple of days after the death of Diego Maradona.
Yet, they have managed to get a 3-3 against the front-runners Milan and I trust their offensive abilities to come out with a win from Bologna.
Milan vs Parma | Sunday 13th December 2020, 19:45 | Premier Sports
Milan have a tremendous record at San Siro this season (W6-D2-L1) including Europe League action. Moreover, their scoring ability has been superb, with 22 goals scored in nine matches – and they have always managed to find the net in domestic action.
I am confident the Rossoneri will take the three points here to continue their exciting run. Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t probably return but they have shown to be a consistent team even without the Swedish legend.
