THE Daily Record’s Mr Fixit (@mrfixittps) casts his eye over Sunday’s League Cup final between Motherwell and Celtic.
Motherwell v Celtic | Sunday 26th November 2017, 15:00 | BT Sport
It’s 64 and counting for Celtic and Sunday could see one of the biggest tests of their unbeaten run.
Brendan Rodgers’ side face Motherwell for the first trophy of the season just four days after a 7-1 humiliation by PSG and are 1/4 with Betfred to win in 90 minutes. Motherwell are 10/1 at Ladbrokes and 11/2 at William Hill to lift the trophy.
The timing isn’t great for the Hoops but over the last 18 months they’ve found a way to overcome every obstacle and this should be no different.
Motherwell in confident mood with in-form Moult
A vibrant and confident Well will turn up for the League Cup Final having knocked out Rangers and Aberdeen on the way to Hampden. Another defeat of the Dons at Pittodrie last Saturday means they’ll go into the game in confident mood.
However, there is no getting away for the fact Celtic have won nine out of 10 against their rivals and four of the last five ‘to nil’.
How this works out could depend on one man. If Celtic contain Louis Moult they should win – neither Aberdeen nor Rangers could keep him quiet as he netted in both ties and hit both against Aberdeen a week ago.
Interestingly Moult has netted four goals against Celtic – both doubles.
Celtic to take top honours
Unlike Well Celtic have options with Rodgers having to choose between Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffths for the forward role.
I expect Both Teams To Score and that pays 10/11 at Betfair. Just to score Motherwell are 4/5 at Betfair. .
For a correct score I can see 2-1 or 3-1 Celtic at 17/2 and 19/2 respectively but my best bet is to back the Hoops to win and concede at 8/5 with Bet365.
