Scottish Football Tips | Dino Vita’s NAP | 8th August 2015

AFTER his excellent League 1 and 2 season previews, Dino Vita (@VitoDino) gives us his best bet this weekend.

Brechin v Dunfermline | Saturday 15:00

My first selection of the season comes from League 1 and it’s my pick for the title as you will have read in my ante post preview.

Dunfermline go to Brechin in the first game of the season on Saturday. Allan Johnstone has had a good pre season strengthening his squad ready for a promotion push and two comfortable cup wins so far show signs could be good for Athletic.

They beat Arbroath 4-1 in the Petrofac Cup and followed that up last week in the League Cup with a 5-1 win in the Fife Derby against fellow League 1 challengers Cowdenbeath.

Brechin on the other hand have lost both cup games, shipping five goals and scoring none. Losing 3-0 at home to Peterhead in their first game has really set alarm bells going for new manager Darren Dods, and they followed that up with a 2-0 defeat to Ayr last weekend.

Brechin look a long way off last season’s play-off place side, the loss of their manager and some keys players has left new manager Dods with a big rebuilding job!

A win on the opening day is just what Dunfermline will be looking for to kick start their title challenge, and I believe it will be an away win for the Pars on Saturday!
