Scottish Football – Perth Men can edge crunch clash, says Mr Fixit

THE Daily Record’s Mr Fixit (@mrfixittps) shares his best bets from the fourth weekend of the 2018/19 Scottish season.

Ayr v Dunfermline | Saturday 25th August, 15:00

No Celtic or Rangers in action this Saturday so I’m starting in the Championship with team of the moment Ayr.

Ian McCall’s men have made a super start to the season, winning their Betfred Cup section then starting with a win and draw in the Championship.

They saved their best for last with a thumping 3-0 win at Dundee to reach the cup quarters and a meeting with Rangers at Ibrox.

Lawrence Shankland’s grabbed the headlines with 11 goals in eight games this season including a double at a Dundee side who tried to buy him.

But Ayr aren’t a one-man team and the defence deserves plaudits too with five successive clean sheets including one at Inverness with 10 men.

Taking everything into account Ayr shouldn’t be underdogs at 19/10 with bet365 at home to Dunfermline. One thing going against them is no wins in 10 against the Fifers at Somerset so play slightly safer by taking Ayr draw no bet at 11/10 with Unibet.

St Johnstone v Dundee | Saturday 25th August, 15:00

This Tayside derby is being billed a grudge match after last season’s bust-up between rival mangers Tommy Wright and Neil McCann.

That led Dundee boss McCann to say his counterpart wasn’t welcome back at Dens and there’s no love lost between the pair.

Wright’s Saints have made a decent start and will take great pleasure in piling the pressure on McCann after last week’s 3-0 Betfred Cup defeat at home to Ayr.

Take the Perth men to win at 11/10 with Ladbrokes in what could be a fiery affair.

Clyde v Edinburgh City | Saturday 25th August, 15:00

Clyde can bounce back quickly after suffering their first League Two defeat of the season at fellow title hopefuls Peterhead last week.

Edinburgh won on penalties after a 1-1 League Cup draw between the sides last month but Clyde’s quality up front and artificial pitch can give them the edge for swift revenge.

Back a home win at 4/5 with Marathon.

Best Bets

Ayr v Dunfermline – Ayr draw no bet (11/10 Unibet)

St Johnstone v Dundee – St Johnstone to win (11/10 Ladbrokes)

Clyde v Edinburgh City – Clyde to win (4/5 Marathon)
