Scottish Football: Celtic to saunter to Old Firm success, says Mr Fixit

THE DAILY RECORD’S Mr Fixit (@mrfixitstips) picks out his three best bets in Scotland this weekend.

Celtic v Rangers | Sunday 12:00 | Sky Sports

I was in the bookies last Sunday and a punter asked: “What price Celtic -2?” The answer from behind the counter was: “That will be 4/7.”

That didn’t impress the customer who walked out muttering: “We’re being robbed. That’s a terrible price for the derby.”

Turns out he was after Celtic -2 against Rangers today and not what would have been a winner in the Scottish Cup at home to St Mirren last week.

The story illustrates how confident Celtic fans are ahead of the fourth Old Firm clash of the season. Celtic -2 is actually a best 27/10 with Coral but after last week’s minor hiccup I’d prefer to go with -1 at 11/10 with the same firm.

Celtic have won all three meeting this season including 5-1 at home with Moussa Dembele netting a hat-trick. He’s back on form after his injury lay-off and has netted 12 in six games.

Celtic are as short as they’ve been to win the derby at 2/5 and it’s difficult to know what to expect from their rivals.

Pedro Caixinha has arrived in Scotland too late to seriously influence this one although players will want to impress the Portuguese boss. Graeme Murty has won back-to-back games but that doesn’t compare to 28 in a row for Brendan Rodgers.

Rangers are a best 15/2 with William Hill – and Ibrox fans will grab it – but it’s difficult to see past the treble chasers.

Berwick v Cowdenbeath | Saturday 15:00

In League Two Berwick can heap misery on managerless Cowden who’ve lost seven on the spin and 10 of their last 11.

Berwick have hit a bit of form after a poor run of their own and have lost just one in five, with three wins.

At home it’s three victories from four and take them at 11/10 with Marathon to beat rock-bottom Cowden.

Arbroath v Clyde | Saturday 15:00

Staying in League Two, look to Gayfield for goals.

These sides have met four times already this season and all of them have seen over 2.5 goals.

Recent form also points to a high scorer with six of Clyde’s last eight in the league going over and five of Arbroath’s previous eight.

Over 2.5 goals is 3/4 at BetVictor.

Best Bets

Celtic v Rangers – Celtic -1 handicap (11/10 Coral)

Berwick v Cowdenbeath – Berwick to win (11/10 Marathon)

Arbroath v Clyde – Over 2.5 Goals (3/4 BetVictor)
