Scottish Football: Blue Toon to kick-off campaign in style, says Dino Vita

PRO PUNTER Dino Vita’s (@VitaDino) was in stunning form in Scotland last season. Here’s his first Scottish NAP of the new 2017/18 campaign.

Annan v Peterhead | Saturday 5th August 2017 | 15:00

The new Scottish football season is already upon us; the Betfred Cup group stages are done and dusted and now it’s time for the league campaigns to kick-off.

I’m backing Peterhead to bounce back at from their League One relegation at the first attempt and I’m backing the Blue Toon to get off to the perfect start on Saturday at 23/20 (William Hill) quotes.

Blue Toon well fancied

Peterhead lost in the play-offs last season after a disastrous second half of the season saw them drop into League Two. But Jim McNally’s men go into 2017/18 as title favourites.

Betfred Cup form suggests the visitors could have a big claim, winning three and losing one of their four games. Peterhead beat East Fife, Elgin and deservedly overcame Premiership Hearts whilst also keeping hold of top marksman Rory McAllister, which is massive to gaining promotion.

A transitional campaign for Annan

Annan are going through a transitional period; the hosts appointed a new manager in Peter Murphy during the summer and also signed a host of new players.

Betfred Cup form suggest things are still not quite right in Dumfries and Galloway yet, losing three and drawing one of their four fixtures and last weekend Annan were stuffed 6-1 at home by League One Ayr United.

I’m expecting big things from Peterhead this season and they should take all three points on Saturday to get off to the perfect start.
