DAILY RECORD star Mr Fixit (@mrfixitstips) picks out his three best bets in Scotland from the opening weekend of action in 2017/18.
Celtic v Hearts | Saturday 5th August 2017, 12:30 | Sky Sports
Celtic will kick-off the new season by unfurling the league flag at Parkhead and the Hoops are on a high after beating Rosenborg to reach the Champions League play-offs.
Last season’s invincibles are still invincible having kept four clean sheets in four Champions League qualifiers.
They have won eight of their last nine at home to Hearts – the other was 0-0 – and this looks a home banker.
Celtic are no bigger than 2/9 with William Hill but I’m happy to back them -2 on the Asian Handicap line at 6/5 with Paddy Power.
Hibs v Partick | Saturday 5th August 2017, 15:00
I don’t judge teams on the Betfred Cup groups but Hibs were unbeaten and scored loads of goals against lower-league teams.
This is their first game back in the top -light after a three-year absence and they have the squad to do well.
Partick finished in the top six last season but only after an awful start that saw them sitting bottom at Christmas.
I fancy Hibs to get off to a flier and they’re worth taking at 11/10 with Coral to score Over 1.5 Goals.
Queen of the South v Brechin | Saturday 5th August 2017, 15:00
Brechin are relegation favourites in the Championship and this is a step up for them after they were promoted through the play-offs.
A trip to Queen of the South is a tough start should see the home men pick up a welcome three points after a disappointing Betfred Cup campaign.
Take Queens to win and Over 1.5 Goals at 17/20 with Betfair.
