Sampdoria v Cagliari Tips | 7th March 2015

OUR man in Rome Marco Di Cosmo (Scioltz) was in outstanding Coppa Italia form in midweek. Can he continue his hot streak in Serie A on Saturday?

Sampdoria v Cagliari | Saturday 17.00

Two teams struggling for form in Serie A meet at the Marassi on Saturday evening. Cagliari are battling against relegation while Sampdoria have been spectacularly inconsistent this season; having started superbly, Samp have suffered after the winter transfer window and only returned to winning form in Bergamo last Sunday.

Samuel Eto’o and Joaquin Correa have made no real impact on the team yet but young Colombian Luis Muriel is constantly improving and adding an extra dimension to Sinisa Mihajlović’s men.

Cagliari have a lot of selection issues for this match. They will miss a number of players because of injuries and suspension, including captain Antonio Conti, leaving their midfield lacking. However, I do still like their offensive qualities including rising Belgian star Paul M’Poku, along with some young Italian talents.

Sampdoria have drawn their last three home matches 1-1. They are remain unbeaten at the Marassi, and this is quite remarkable as only Roma and Juventus are yet to lose on home soil. After such a frustrating run then, I expect Sampdoria to win this match, owing much to Cagliari’s poor form and their absentees.

Looking at the stats, both teams have scored in Samp’s last six while the same bet has banked in Cagliari’s previous nine. It certainly suggests we should see a few goals despite the odds-against quotes for Over 2.5 Goals in the contest.

My suggestion is to back Sampdoria to score Over 1.5 Goals. I’m afraid Cagliari won’t have enough opportunities and I’m confident Sinisa’s men will put together a strong performance and will be able to win this match.

Betting on team goals will give us juicier odds and will also keep us covered from if the match does end up in a high-scoring draw, should the Blucerchati fail to record maximum points.
