Rochdale v Tottenham – Lucas to run riot in Spotland

DAN MARKS (@Hunterchaser22) shares his view on Sunday’s FA Cup showdown between Rochdale and Spurs from Spotland.

Rochdale v Tottenham | Sunday 18th February 2018, 16:00 | BBC1

Spurs should have too much for Rochdale this afternoon and will probably feel like this competition presents a great opportunity to put some silverware in the cabinet for Mauricio Pochettino. With a relatively kind draw in the next round and then the potential of two games at their temporary home ground I fancy Spurs as an outright option at this stage and expect them to take this tie seriously.

Rochdale are probably better than their league position but will still be up against it when Harry Kane and the supporting cast roll into town. Although Spurs laboured through their tie against Newport this should suit them more as Rochdale tend to like to play on the deck so any pitch problems are unlikely to be the leveller that one might assume.

I’d expect Spurs to put out a near full strength side with 8 days until their next league fixture after coming out of a testing few weeks where they have managed to beat Arsenal and United and pick up draws at Liverpool and of course Juventus.

I like the look of Lucas Moura to score anytime at 7/4 with William Hill and will also back him as first goal scorer at 13/2 with the same firm. The Brazilian got 19 goals in all competitions for PSG last year and will be desperate to make an impact so as to stake his place in the Spurs team going forward.
