Rangers vs St Mirren Betting Preview: Buddies can keep things competitive at Ibrox

Gerrard - Rangers

RANGERS welcome St Mirren to Ibrox on Sunday. Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his favourite fancies.

Rangers arrived back in Glasgow with their tail between their legs, having been soundly by Bayer Leverkusen over two legs, across almost five months.

It’s fair to say that St Mirren should be a simpler proposition that Die Werkself but that isn’t to say that Steven Gerrard’s side will have it all their own way against the Paisely outfit.

The Buddies were tough to beat last season, conceding just 41 goals in their 30 matches and they started this season with another tight encounter as they overcame Livingston by a goal to nil.

These two sides met only twice last term but on both occasions Rangers won 1-0. Additionally The Buddies were only humiliating in one of their three matches against Celtic, a 5-0 loss at Parkhead in March. The other two ended in 2-0 and 2-1 victories for The Hoops, which is hardly a disgrace.

All this leads me to back St Mirren +2 at 10/11 with 888sport. It would have landed in three of their five matches against The Old Firm last term, with another seeing your stake returned. Moreover, you have to go back to 20th December for the last time Rangers scored three goals in a league game…that’s 12 matches and counting.

I did consider the 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines in the correct score market but simplicity is key and 10/11 seems like good value in the knowledge that it is money back with a two-goal margin of victory.
