Rangers vs Aberdeen Betting Preview & Tips:

Rangers

SCOTTISH football aficionado Gerry Taylor (@thefurlongpole) shares his verdict on Sunday’s best bets from the Premiership clash between Rangers and Aberdeen.

Well after the International break, there is no resting up in the Premiership – it’s straight back to business this weekend, with two matches involving the top four in the league. The game I’m going to look at is at Ibrox, with the all-conquering Rangers facing the Granite City outfit of Aberdeen.

In the Gers opening gambit this league season, Steven Gerrard’s hosts were very comfortable winners at Pittodrie. It was only a narrow 1-0 victory on paper, but if truth be told the Dons barely had a shot at goal.

Since then though Derek McInnes’s charges, despite some early season covid issues, have undoubtedly improved – currently sitting in third place, only three points behind second-placed Celtic. They have also overtaken the early trailblazers for third,  Hibs – despite having played a game less.

‘Del’ will be missing one of his strongest performers this season, Ross McCrorie who is for this season is still technically an on-loan Rangers player (the permanent deal doesn’t commence until the end of this season). This will weaken the line-up as he has played almost every game since linking up. Other injuries to Jonny Hayes, Marley Watkins and Dylan McGeoch aren’t ideal either.

Aberdeen have failed to score on their last three league visits to Govan. Likewise in a recent visit to Glasgow to face an under-pressure Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final, they also failed to score, despite the hoops defence’s much publicised vulnerabilities.

The Teddy Bears will be a different proposition altogether, having not conceded a goal at Ibrox in the League this season thus far. Hence, with the Dons not being a push-over, the bet I like for this one: is Rangers to win and Under 3.5 Goals at evens with Boylesports.

This bet has landed in 5/7 of their home league matches, only failing in the 4-0 and 8-0 drubbings of newly-promoted Dundee Utd and the hapless Hamilton Accies. McInnes as usual, will set-up making his team hard to break down. Ultimately though, the Gers should be too strong and will want to bag the three points after the International break, with the minimum of fuss.

Best Bets

Rangers v Aberdeen – Rangers to win and Under 3.5 Goals (1/1 Boylesports)
