PSG v Liverpool: Reds can rise to Parisian challenge

Mo Salah - Liverpool

THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE continues on Wednesday as Liverpool travel to Paris to take on PSG. Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his betting thoughts.

Arguably the tie of the tournament so far takes place at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night. If PSG lose they are most likely out of the competition, while defeat for Liverpool will most likely mean that they need to beat Napoli by two clear goals in their last game in order to advance.

PSG have won 14 out of 14 in Lique 1 and Liverpool are unbeaten in the Premier League. It’s therefore fair to suggest that neither have brought their league form in to this group.

Liverpool were excellent in the reverse fixture on the opening night, but were desperately disappointing in both away fixtures to date. Defeat against Napoli is excusable, but they did not have a shot on-target in that encounter, while a loss to Red Star Belgrade was completely unexpected.

PSG were second best at Anfield and I also felt that Napoli were the better side over the course of those two fixtures.

Both sides have a stunning array of attacking talent, but at the prices, I just side with Liverpool. While I am concerned about their away performances in this competition this season, I take heart from their record against their peers in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have already faced Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal on the road this season and have recorded one victory and two draws. Moreover, in 19 games away to fellow members of the Big Six since Klopp took their helm their record reads W5-D9-L5.

While I accept that PSG are better than most of the sides in England’s top-six, I don’t believe they are better than Manchester City – who Liverpool beat home and away in this competition last season – or Liverpool themselves.

In my view, at 31/20 (Marathon) in the Draw No Bet market, Liverpool are worth a few pennies. I also like the look of 1-1 and 2-2 draws.

1-1 is 15/2 with Sportingbet while 2-2 is 43/4 with 10BET. I recommend 20% of your regular stakes on these scorelines.
