PREMIER LEAGUE analyst Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) takes a look at Saturday’s 3pm night’s action, picking out his best bets.
Leicester v Fulham | Saturday 9th March 2019, 15:00
Both Brendan Rodgers and Scott Parker both began their tenures with 2-1 defeats and I expect goals when these two sides play on Saturday afternoon.
There isn’t much recent Premier League data for either manager but these two sides are probably better going forward than they are at the back (in Fulham’s case that isn’t difficult), so Leicester to win and Both Teams To Score gets my vote at 12/5 with Boylesports.
Both sides have found the net in 18 of Leicester’s 29 matches and 16 of Fulham’s but what really stole my attention was Rodgers’s record when at Liverpool.
During the 2013/14 season when the Merseysiders came so close to winning the title, they won 26 games but conceded in 16 of these. I feel that a 2-1 home victory is the most likely scoreline but 15/2 isn’t big enough to tempt me in so I will stick with the sole bet in this encounter.
Newcastle v Everton | Saturday 9th March 2019, 15:00
Newcastle’s record of eight defeats from 15 home matches may sound pretty concerning but four of those matches came against sides in the top six. If you exclude those sides, their record reads won five, drawn one, lost four and I feel that they will get a positive result against an Everton side that I feel are false favourites to win this game.
Everton have won just four away games all season – against Huddersfield, Cardiff, Burnley and Leicester – and I think that their two games against Liverpool have given a false representation of where they are.
Obviously Everton have a better side than Newcastle but not to the extent that the odds suggest. At 99/100 with Marathon Newcastle in the Draw No Bet market is my call.
