Peter Wright v Gary Anderson| Thursday 22nd February 2018, 22:15 | Sky Sports
The Premier League of Darts moves away from the UK this week, as the field travel to Berlin to play in front of almost 12,000.
Peter Wright won 5/9 events held in Germany last year which suggests he thrives with a change of scenery. Gary Anderson has struggled with his back recently, but he’s opted to play the last two weekends, which indicates he’s on the mend. He had no issues when averaging over 110 versus MVG last Thursday.
Anderson has won the 180 count in 4/5 meetings with Wright on TV in the last year, the other ended in a tie. If we go back even further we’ll find that Anderson has hit the most maximum’s in 6/9 TV meetings with Wright in the last two years, with two ties and one going to Wright.
At The Masters last month, Anderson averaged a maximum every 2.875 legs. So far in the Premier League his 180 counts read 3, 5, 4 at a rate of every 2.66 legs.
Conversely, Snakebite’s maximum counts in the Premier League this season read 2, 3, 1 giving a rate of every 5.83 legs. Prior to this, Wright showed better maximum hitting form at the Masters, where he hit 10 in 32 legs. But that rate of a 180 every 3.2 legs is still less frequent than Anderson’s.
Three of the last four Premier League meetings between the pair have gone all 12-legs which suggests they push one another.
There’s an old tale that Gary Anderson plays better when facing people he doesn’t like. He’s shown that in his two meetings with Gerwyn Price this year, and it’s also evident in his head-to-head record with Peter Wright. At the Grand Slam of Darts in November, Snakebite came back to beat Anderson 16-15, ending a run of five consecutive wins for the Flying Scotsman.
We can get 10/11 for Gary Anderson to hit the most 180’s and have enough of an edge to suggest it’s value.
