It’s a big game when it comes to the race for the NFC this Monday night with the 7-3 Buccaneers hosting the 6-3 Rams. Los Angeles were very impressive in their win against Seattle last week, with Jalen Ramsey standing out in particular after pretty much erasing DK Metcalf in that game. He’ll likely be up against Mike Evans for most of this week’s matchup in another physical battle in which I think he’ll thrive.
It’s not just Ramsey though, Darious Williams opposite him has been playing really well of late too and I haven’t even mentioned Aaron Donald, who should probably just have the Defensive Player of the Year award named after him at this point in his career. Even with the plethora of weapons that Tom Brady and the Buccaneers have, the Rams should be a tough matchup for them.
It’s not all good news for the Rams however, as starting LT Andrew Whitworth was lost for the season during the game against the Seahawks, and I didn’t like the matchup against Tampa Bay’s defensive front even before this injury. The Bucs rank 2nd against the run and although they’re in the middle of the pack against the pass – partly due to teams giving up on the run – they lead the league with 12 INTs.
All of these defensive plus points on both sides makes me think this may be more of a low scoring game than the line suggests. I’ll be taking the Under 48.5 for what should be a decent Monday night game.
