Miguel Almiron - Newcastle

BURNLEY travel to Newcastle on Saturday evening. Tom Beresford (@tomsportsjourno) shares his best bets.

As Sean Dyche’s Burnley remain in search of their first points of the campaign, the Clarets make the trip to the north-east to take on Newcastle, who haven’t made the brightest start to the season, with just four points from their opening three fixtures.

Steve Bruce’s hosts narrowly avoided an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Newport in the Carabao Cup, edging past the League Two side on penalties, after Jonjo Shelvey levelled things up in injury-time.

With both sides craving a much-needed victory, I for one expect to see goals in this. Burnley’s recent defensive injury problems have been given a boost after James Tarkowski featured in the Clarets’ cup defeat to Manchester City.

Ashley Barnes, Robbie Brady and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are also available for selection after a spell on the sidelines. Wednesday night’s appearance by Barnes was his first since New Year’s Day.

As for the hosts, Bruce remains hopeful that winger Allan Saint-Maximin will be fit to return on Saturday after a three-match absence with an ankle problem. Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth are doubts, whilst Matt Ritchie is expected to be out for at least two months due to a shoulder injury.

As previously mentioned, I expect there to be goals in this one, and given Burnley’s poor form, I’m going for a Newcastle win with Over 2.5 Goals, which is available at 100/30 via SkyBet.
