What a match this is! Who would have foresaw this at the start of the season; two giants riddled in negativity with one of the managers already out and the other surely on his way?

Manchester United come into this match without a win in seven and down in sixth place in the table. The galling thing for United fans is that their fixture list hasn’t been too taxing during this period.

They’ve lost to promoted clubs Bournemouth and Norwich and failed to get past a woefully out-of-form West Ham. A sorry state of affairs for the club.

The Boxing Day defeat at Stoke was as meek as it was predictable. United were incredibly limp and in a game they desperately needed to win they simply didn’t turn up. It doesn’t bode well for here.

One of the hallmarks of Louis Van Gaal’s reign is the strong home form his side have shown. Last season bar the very start and end of the campaign his United side were solid at Old Trafford.

That trend continued this season with eight wins from their first 11 matches at home but since late-November they’ve failed to win at Old Trafford.

Uninspiring 0-0 draws against PSV and West Ham were followed by a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of out-of-form Norwich. Again, it doesn’t bode well for this.

As for Chelsea, things seem to be slightly improving since Jose Mourinho left. Guus Hiddink has oversaw a 3-2 win over Sunderland followed by a 2-2 home draw against Watford on Boxing Day.

Diego Costa looked lively on Saturday but he picked up his fifth booking of the season to rule himself out of this game. Cesc Fabregas also misses out for Chelsea.

The home side would have been around 11/10 to win this a month ago, now they can be snapped up at 13/8. It’s still not tempting me I have to say.

Defeat here would put Van Gaal in all sorts of trouble and will the players really care? From the outside looking in he doesn’t seem too popular at the club and similar to the way the Chelsea players downed tools under Mourinho we may be seeing something similar here.

United look opposable but I’m not sure Chelsea represent much value at 21/10 to be honest. It’s baby steps for Hiddink at the moment and a win here feels like too big a leap.

I’ll back the draw here at 23/10 and have a nibble on the 1-1 scoreline at 6/1 with Bet Victor. Chelsea, for all their flaws, have scored eight in their last four games.
