THERE’S a bit one in the Premier League today as Man Utd host Arsenal and expert analysis Dan McCulloch (@danmcc84) shares his best bet for when they meet.
Man Utd v Arsenal | Sunday 29th April 2018, 16:30 | Sky Sports
Games between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have general been fiesty affairs over the years. With Arsenal prioritising the Europa League, however, I don’t expect that to be the case this weekend but I do believe it will go the way of the majority of the others, with the Portuguese getting the better of his opponent.
Bookies clearly expect a barely recognisable Arsenal side, which explains why Manchester United are a best price of 9/20. Looking at Arsenal’s bench on Thursday night I have little confidence in their strength in depth. The Gunners do have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (who is ineligible for the Europa League) to come back in to the side but if Wenger does rest the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey then he is the only attacking talent that Mourinho’s side shall fear.
Mourinho has received a lot of criticism for his sides style this season and given that their tally of 65 league goals is dwarfed by rivals Liverpool (80) and Manchester City (98), I think it’s reasonable to suggest that the Portuguese is not as expansive as many United fans would like.
They rarely give any side a hiding and you have to go back to 15th January for the last time they scored three goals in a home league game. Indeed, despite the likelihood of Arsenal resting players I simply don’t see United running up a cricket score. Nine of United’s 17 home league games this season have seen them emerge victorious with three goals or fewer scored. BetVictor price a United win and under 3.5 goals at 13/10, which I believe is a tremendous price.
The current version of the Mourinho side is certainly less swashbuckling than the early weeks of the season and their home results since the start of January read 3-0,2-0, 2-1, 2-1, 2-0, 0-1 and I expect a relatively low-scoring United win here.
With Arsenal failing to score in three of their four games against other members of ‘The Big Six’ I was interested in the 21/20 on the ‘No option in ‘The Both Teams To Score’ market. However, that is a little to similar to my original bet so I will stick with United and under 3.5 goals
