Liverpool v Newcastle – Liverpool value in the goals market

Liverpool - Firmino/Salah

THE Premier League continues on Saturday evening as Liverpool host Newcastle at Anfield. Dan Parks (@Hunterchaser22) shares his picks.

Liverpool v Newcastle| Saturday 3rd March 2018, 17:30 | BT Sport

Liverpool are the form side in the country and I expect them to dispatch Newcastle with the minimum of fuss.

The Reds have started 2018 well and apart from blips against West Brom and Swansea have shown no signs of missing Phil Coutinho, meanwhile Virgil Van Dijk has slotted in well and the tiresome talk of his transfer fee is starting to go away.

A win here would put them 7 points clear of 5th placed Chelsea who have the formidable task of visiting Man City on Sunday. With that in mind Liverpool will be desperate to chalk up the 3 points here. With qualification to the next round of the Champions League all but certain you can expect Jurgen Klopp to field a strong side including the three amigos Salah, Mane and Firmino which should prove too hot for the Newcastle defence to handle.

Newcastle have gone four unbeaten but were showing signs of tiring at Bournemouth last week and with a paper-thin squad it wouldn’t surprise me if Rafa Benitez picked a team with an eye on their upcoming winnable home games. The Spaniard is guaranteed a warm return to Anfield but I expect that to be all he gets as this Liverpool team look far from generous at the moment.

I don’t expect Benitez to set up in a way that exposes his team to a drubbing though so I like the look of Liverpool to win by exactly 2 goals at 3/1. Even if Newcastle go down early I wouldn’t anticipate their tactics changing too much.

Best Bets

Liverpool to win by 2 goals (2/1 bet365)
