Liverpool v Man Utd: Unstoppable Reds to overcome old enermy

Mo Salah - Liverpool

LIVERPOOL host old rivals Manchester United on Super Sunday. We asked Tom Love (@TomLove_18) to source the best bets from the Premier League encounter.

Liverpool v Manchester United | Sunday 19th January 2020, 16:30 | Sky Sports

Another narrow away win for Liverpool came courtesy on a clinical Roberto Firmino finish at Spurs last weekend. That victory push Liverpool to just the 20 wins, 1 draw and 0 defeats. It’s alright, innit?

It’s a run I’ve never seen in the Premier League in my lifetime, anything put in front of them they’ve swept aside apart from, yes, Manchester United. If Jurgen Klopp has a bogey team then it is the Red Devils. The only points they dropped came at Old Trafford but it will be a shock if they come away from Anfield with anything, particularly without star man Marcus Rashford.

On the whole United’s away form has been shoddy, just three league wins in their last 15 on their travels hardly inspires confidence and they are far away from the finished article. A lot has been made about United doing well away from home in these big games but they lost both trips to the Etihad and Anfield last season, they’ve also lost twice at the Emirates in the past few months.

Tactically I think there’s a real gulf in class between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp and in terms of squad quality there is no debate that the Merseysiders rule the roost. I cannot see Liverpool not winning this game and 2/5 quotes are fully justified.

In terms of eking a bit more value out of that I’m happy to throw in Under 4.5 Goals along with a home win which gives us a nice 4/5 shot with coral. We get a lot of scorelines on our side here and given it’s landed in 90% of Liverpool home games this season it looks a worthy boost.

Liverpool have sorted it out at the back too, they’ve now kept six consecutive clean sheets in the league which is a superb record. The last three home games for them have seen two or fewer goals and the same can be said for United.

Another angle that intrigued me is Harry Maguire to have Over 1.5 Tackles at 11/8 with Bet365. He’s managed two or more in six of his last eight games and because he’s a centre half who likes to step out and engage it makes him a much more attractive play in the tackle market. With the destructive and direct front three to keep him occupied we have a good looking bet here.

Best Bets

Liverpool v Manchester United – Liverpool to win and Under 4.5 Goals (4/5 Coral)

Liverpool v Manchester United – Harry Maguire to have Over 1.5 Tackles (11/8 Bet365)
