If Liverpool want to continue their title tilt they will have to win here against their bogey side, Chelsea.
We all remember the slip by Steven Gerrard that allowed Demba Ba through one-on-one to put a major dent in their last serious championship challenge under Brendan Rodgers. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for no individual mistakes as his side welcome the Blues this Sunday.
Liverpool have won just twice in their last 16 fixtures against Chelsea, and have failed to win in their last six at Anfield against the capital club. Therefore, odds-on quotes could look a touch skinny for head-to-head backers.
However, the Reds’ record at Anfield is phenomenal with the hosts unbeaten in their last 37 games here so I personally think the 4/5 (BetVictor) is a decent quote. They’ve been on the drift in the last 48 hours and it looks a PRICE worth taking.
The Reds have had an extra two days rest as Maurizio Sarri has stressed, the Blues have also had to travel back from Prague so have only had one solid day preparation. That coupled with the fact Chelsea have lost their last five on the road against Big Six opposition means I’m happy to swerve the visitors.
I’m expecting it to be relatively tight though, Liverpool haven’t been blowing teams away the season and Chelsea have seen their games separated by just one goal upon 19 occasions. Therefore, the 2-1 home win looks an attractive price at 8/1 with Bet365. This scoreline gives us interest if Chelsea do manage to notch.
