When I first looked at this game, I really wanted to side with Liverpool. For while Bayern Munich have won five of their last six domestic games, they have conceded 10 goals in those matches and this game is certainly a step up in quality.
Moreover, while Munich may have been undefeated in the Champions League group stages, their group consisted of Ajax, Benfica and AEK Athens so I can’t say that that is overly impressive.
The Bavarian giants are clearly a side possessing much quality but they are not the force they were as recently as last season. They won last terms Bundesliga by 21 points yet this time they trail Borussia Dortmund and even in recent victories they have been far from impressive.
Unfortunately, Liverpool’s lack of options at the back prevents me from endorsing the Anfield side. Their backline tomorrow night is likely to consist of James Milner, Joel Matip, Fabiano and Andrew Robertson and it’s easy to see why the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman will be licking their lips.
Therefore, all things considered, I think the 10/11 William Hill are offering on Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams To Score is the way to go. Such a bet would have been victorious in Bayern’s last six matches and while it would have been less profitable in Liverpool games, they haven’t faced too many sides with the German sides quality in recent weeks.
A further bet I like is Sadio Mane to score anytime at 2/1 with Black Type. The Senegalese speedster has scored 13 goals in 31 appearances this season and managed to score in five of Liverpool’s seven knockout matches in this competition last term. I think Liverpool will score a couple of goals, which certainly makes this bet value.
