In regard to this encounter, my first thought was Leicester look huge at 8/11 to win the game. However, despite the small sample size, you cannot ignore to notice how few favourites have won in the Premier League and Championship to date since the return, including Leicester’s own failure to despatch Watford on lunchtime on Saturday.
Tipsters were falling over themselves to congratulate each other on backing Brighton to overcome Arsenal at the weekend but that does not deter me from believing the Seagulls were fortunate to win that game.
Arsenal dominated possession, marginally won the Expected Goals (xG) battle and had more shots and shots on-target than their opponents. Simply put, Brighton did not deserve to win the match but they have been unfortunate in other games this season and those numbers – as well as the fact that there appears to be little home advantage at present – are the reason why the Foxes are as big at 8/11 to win on Tuesday.
I do believe that that is a very fair price but there are a couple of other bets I would prefer to side with at a bigger price.
In the small sample we have, like many, I have noted how few first half goals have been scored, with seven of the 12 Premier League matches being level at half time, along with six of the 12 Championship games. With that in mind, the 23/20 with Boylesports on the game being a draw at half-time holds appeal.
Additionally, I like the look of the 5/2 with Bet365 on Leicester to win by a single goal. Five of Brighton’s last six Premier League defeats have come in this manner so I do not expect Brendan Rodgers’s side to completely overpower their opponents.
I will probably cover the 1-0 and 2-1 scorelines myself but will limit this column to two wagers.
