THE champions are in action on Saturday in Serie A as Juventus host Atalanta. Our man on the ground Marco Di Cosmo (@scioltz) offers his view.
Juventus v Atalanta | Saturday 19:45 | BT Sport Europe
I can’t wait to see Juventus facing Atalanta on Saturday night! The bianconeri have just been thrashed against Genoa at the Marassi, finding themselves losing 3-0 after just 30 minutes, something that hadn’t happened to them for happening for 11 years!
The match finished 3-1 for Genoa, and I consider that pretty much a hangover effect after Juventus’ win in Sevilla.
Injuries
It is hard to say that the bianconeri are in a difficult moment as they have gained the first spot in their UEFA Champions League group while defending a four points lead in Serie A.
Despite that, their season is being tormented by injuries, with Leonardi Bonucci added to the list already occupied by Dani Alves, Andrea Barzagli and Paulo Dybala.
More important at all, I expect Juventus to strike back with fury and anger, as usually happens after their losses, especially having the possibility to go back to their stadium.
This team have showed an incredible resilience for FIVE YEARS, displaying an incredible capacity of keeping their competitiveness at the top level every season.
Entertaining and enoyable
On the other hand, Atalanta are one of the most intriguing Serie A teams in years. As I’ve said, their style of play makes them not only at the 4th place in the table, but also shows an entertaining and enjoyable football quality.
They have my favourite young midfield duo in the whole Serie A, with Franck Kessie and Roberto Gagliardini. Unfortunately, the latter will be suspended but not much will change in Atalanta’s mentality.
I give them the chance to score at least once, especially with Juventus defensive line-up, and that should be the key to an open game where Juventus will try to have their revenge.
