Horse Racing: Saturday NAP in Stratford plus two to follow at Ascot

RACING judge RACING fan Josh Jones (@TheRacingJones) will be sharing his daily NAP with us for the foreseeable Friday, and his new column continues on Saturday with his best bet, plus two fancies from Ascot.

4.35 Stratford | Saturday 19th October 2019

Hurricane Rita (2/1 Bet365) has a larger weight to contend with here after recent efforts over hurdles. She has thrived over the obstacles this season and almost boasted a hat-trick of wins when a very close second at Southwell. The front two were clear of the field, but she just seemed to clatter through the last hurdle causing her to lose some ground in the process.

A run like that again here and she can easily land the spoils. The ground was soft that day, so there are no issues and she should handle a cut in the ground well. She has won over course and distance back in June by a very impressive nine lengths, a return back to this course will be welcomed.

Hurricane Rita is Saturday’s NAP.

Daughter of Sea The Stars, Star Catcher is in excellent form as of late, especially in Group 1 contests having won the Ribblesdale, Irish Oaks and the Vermeille on her last three outings.

She likes to dictate the pace and has been able to do this on the last two occasions. She has showed her superiority at Ascot over the likes of Fleeting already previously.

Frankie Dettori has jumped off the Annapurna ship for this one to do the steering on Star Catcher which is a huge plus and makes her the one to beat at 7/4 (Bet365).

4.00 Ascot | Saturday 19th October 2019

Another Dettori and John Gosden charge runs in the 4:00 at Ascot. Daughter of Dubawi, Coronet is a dual Group 1 winner over in France and can continue in winning ways here.

Her form figures at Ascot are 1332, which is very respectable to say the least. She has raced against Magical previously and was only a slight bit behind in the Fillies and Mares’ last season. Now Magical looks vulnerable in this after a frankly terrible run in the Arc a short while ago.

The yard have won the last two renewals of this contest and with the ground to suit Coronet, this could be a third year for them on top. She’s 15/4 (Betfair).

Best Bets

4.35 Stratford – Hurricane Rita (2/1 Bet365)

2:45 Ascot – Star Catcher (7/4 Bet365)

4:00 Ascot – Coronet (15/4 Betfair)
