Horse Racing: Racing journalist James Stevens shares his Sunday selections

RACING journalist James Stevens (@JanesStevens180) has been in superb form since joining the WLB stable. Here’s his three to follow on Sunday.

Although the odds are nothing too get too excited about, for those who fancy going for a big stake then four-year-old Ballygown Boy could prove a good investment.

On his racecourse debut he ran well to finish third at this track behind a former point-to-point winner and Cirano De Sivola who’ll go to Cheltenham with a strong chance.

He was slightly green but when he got going he showed plenty of promise. Now in what seems an easier race, it’s very hard to envisage him getting beat at 5/4 (Ladbrokes).

Agamemmon is an improving five-year-old that has taken pretty well to jumping in his two starts over hurdles.

Last time out he finished a good second in what looked a strong novice race, and begins life as a handicapper.

I think he’s on a nice mark, has room to improve and should be suited by the conditions at 4/1 (Ladbrokes).

Tim Vaughan’s eight-year-old Lake Chapala (5/2 Bet365) is a hard character to judge, but when he runs well he normally picks up a good share of the prize money, especially at this level.

His form this season is mixed, he’s won twice and finished second in his last two before a disappointing effort at Fakenham last time out. It’s possible that run came a bit too quick and he’s been given a longer recovery.

He can do some damage if he returns to form.
