Day 2 of Euro 2012 was always billed as the day that would be much better than Day 1 but after a feast of football yesterday it might be hard for it to compete with the opening exchanges. The so-called Group Of Death kicks off here with World Cup runners-up Holland up against Denmark. The Danes are rank outsiders in this group and that is evinced in their disparaging odds of 11/2.
Despite those odds it may be worth backing Morten Olsen’s side to find the net today. Denmark scored in every one of their qualification matches and it’s fair to say the Dutch defence is the weakest part of their make-up. The usual centre-back partnership of John Heitinga and Joris Mathijsen has been broken up due to the latters injury and Wilfred Bouma is expected to step in.
While Holland may concede they should also score. Their forward line is of the envy of most European teams and they scored more goals than any other nation in qualifying. Put all these factors into the mix and Ladbrokes and Boylesports’ 11/10 on Both Teams To Score gets the juices flowing.
Key Facts:
- Denmark scored in all eight of their qualifying matches
- Holland’s 37 qualifying goals was a bigger tally than any other nation
- Holland’s Klaas Jan-Huntelaar was the competitions top scorer during qualifying
