MARK O’Haire (@MarkOHaire) is on the prowl for more La Liga winners on Monday night. So what’s the best bet for Getafe’s game with Real Sociedad?
Getafe v Real Sociedad | Monday 19.45
I’ve mentioned before my distaste of the British media (and quite often, a bunch of brainless supporters) almost incestuous in their hope for David Moyes to fail in his venture at Real Sociedad. Well, sorry to break it to you guys but Dave’s actually doing pretty well, despite barely able to string a sentence in Spanish together.
When taking over at La Real, the San Sebastian club had W2-D3-L6 of their first 11 fixtures and were level on points with the final relegation position. In the 15 matches following Moyes’ appointment, Sociedad have returned W5-D6-L4 figures and are now five points clear of the drop zone. Their points-per-game tally has increased to 1.4 points-per-game from 0.82.
The main sticking point for La Real and Moyes is their turgid form on the road. Sociedad remain winless away from Anoeta this term (D6-L6) and since the start of last season, the Basque club have picked up just five wins from 31 La Liga matches on their travels (W5-D13-L13). It’s enough to make the 12/5 on Monday night almost unbackable.
Hosts Getafe are another side scrapping for survival but four wins in seven including three back-to-back victories at the Coliseum have lifted the capital club to 13th, just a place below their visitors and four points above the bottom three. Pablo Franco is the third man in charge of the Deep Blues this term and he’ll be hoping the partnership of Alvaro Vazquez and Pablo Sarabia will fire the goals to keep Getafe clear of trouble.
The two teams offer contrasting goal trends; Getafe have seen Over 2.5 Goals in eight of their previous 10 league outings while 10 of Sociedad’s last 14 on the road in La Liga have featured fewer than three goals. However, there’s definitely enough reason to warrant a small play on Both Teams To Score at 11/10 from Coral.
Getafe have claimed only four clean sheets in league action this season with 11/15 now seeing Both Teams To Score. At the Coliseum, BTTS has banked in five of their previous seven – only games against Real Madrid and Barcelona foiled a full house. As for Sociedad, the Both Teams To Score has proven successful in four of their last five road trips and a massive 19/31 (61%) away since the start of last season, with only four shutouts recorded in that time.
Carlos Vela might still be sidelined for the visitors but Imanol Agirretxe has taken on the goalscoring mantle in his absence while Sergio Canales has the skills to unlock a fairly meek Getafe defence, opening up our chances of a Both Teams To Score winner at odds-against quotes.
