Fulham v Tottenham: Spurs can overcome Kane loss

Alli, Kane - Spurs

PREMIER LEAGUE analyst Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) takes a look at Super Sunday’s showdown from Craven Cottage as Fulham entertain Tottenham.

It promises to be a tough six weeks or so for Tottenham, with talismanic forward Harry Kane likely to be out of action until March. There has been a lot of discussion about how much Tottenham will miss him but while they are undoubtedly a weaker side without him, I think the 10/13 Unibet are offering on an away win is far too big.

I imagine Spurs would be close to 1/2 were the England captain playing and the drift is simply too great, in my view. The North London side are also missing Son Heung-min who is on Asian Cup duty but they still have Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Fernando Llorente attacking options.

Since the start of last season, Tottenham have played 24 away games against sides outside the top six in the Premier League. Their record in these matches reads W18-D3-L3.

Spurs face a Fulham side with just three league victories in 22 games this term. Indeed, while the Cottagers have improved a little since Claudio Ranieri took the helm, they’ve still managed only nine points from 10 games. Their goal difference of -29 is the worst in the league and they’ve lost all seven encounters against the Big Six.

I can see Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic causing the North London side problems but ultimately I believe Spurs will prevail. I will look at 2-1 and 3-1 as potential correct scores on the exchange on Sunday afternoon but my main bet will be Spurs in the Match Odds market.

As an alternative bet, I like the look of Dele Alli at 23/10 with Black Type in the Anytime Goalscorer market. I was actually looking for the Llorente price, hoping for 2/1 or greater. Unfortunately that isn’t available but the Alli price does appeal.

Since he joined Tottenham he has scored 41 league goals in 122 games. Factoring in that he is likely to have greater goalscoring expectations with Kane out and how poor Fulham are at the back, I think 23/10 on someone who averages a goal every games at this level is excellent value.

Best Bets

Fulham v Tottenham – Tottenham to win (10/13 Unibet)

Fulham v Tottenham – Dele Alli to score at anytime (23/10 Black Type)
