Everton v Tottenham: Toffees could make things sticky for Spurs

PREMIER LEAGUE expert Daniel McCulloch (@DMcCulloch1984) runs the rule over Super Sunday’s showdown from Goodison Park as Everton entertain Tottenham.

My initial intention was to back Both Teams To Score but the 4/6 is too skinny to give as an outright recommendation.

Prior to their game against Liverpool, much was made about Everton’s supposed inferiority complex against their biggest foes. However, the Toffees approached that game with an attacking attitude and were unfortunate not to secure a point.

Everton’s results against other members of the Big Six have also left a lot to be desired in recent times. Indeed, you have to go back to January 2017 for their last victory against a member of the established half dozen.

All that being said, I actually fancy Marco Silva’s men to avoid defeat on Sunday afternoon. While his side only have two points from their five games against the Big Six, they’ve been a tad unfortunate. For example, they have just two goals in those games yet have a xG of almost six. Moreover, it’s worth noting that each of those games were away from home.

Tottenham’s away record – they’ve won seven of their eight away matches against sides from seventh down – does concern me but they’ve had a tough schedule in recent weeks and I am hoping that catch up with them this weekend.

Since the start of November, Spurs have played 11 games in all competitions compared with Everton’s seven and their small squad is likely to be stretched over the Christmas period.
