DANIEL MCCULLOCH (@DMcCulloch1984) shares his favourite fancies from Super Sunday’s showdown between Everton and Manchester United.
Everton v Manchester United | Sunday 1st March 2020, 14:00 | Sky Sports
While these two sides will be disappointed with their seasons so far, both are in reasonable form. Everton’s results since Marco Silva left have been generally impressive, gaining 22 points from 12 matches while Manchester United are unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions.
United have scored 18 goals in those matches and while those games did include an FA Cup tie with Tranmere and another against a Club Bruges side who had 10 men for most of the game, they do look a far more threatening attacking force since Bruno Fernandes joined their ranks.
Everton, too, look far more potent that they did earlier in the season. Since Silva left they have managed 20 goals in a dozen league matches and in February they scored eight in games at Watford, Arsenal and at home to a mean Crystal Palace defence.
Last week the Toffees managed 17 shots at The Emirates yet still lost the game by three goals to two. Indeed Everton have conceded in seven of their last eight matches so I struggle to see them keeping a clean sheet here.
Both sides have found the net in 17 of Everton’s 27 league matches this season, including seven of their last eight. United’s games have been less exciting and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side managed to keep clean sheets against both Chelsea and Wolves in February.
However, their goal led a charmed life against the former in particular and I believe that Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin will cause their backline plenty of problems.
Given that Everton are clearly so much better going forward than they are at the back, the 4/5 William Hill are offering on Both Teams To Score looks simply too big to me.
