Everton take on Manchester City on Saturday evening needing to put a good performance on to keep the pressure off under-fire Marco Silva. The Toffees were humbled at home by Sheffield United last time out but did manage to overcome a tricky EFL Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday.
That midweek victory says to me that the Silva still has the dressing room onside, which will be a huge factor as they take on a formidable City side.
Since their defeat against Norwich, Pep Guardiola’s visitors have been in fine form, scoring 14 goals across three matches in all competitions. The Citizens are in a position now where they have to be perfect to keep up with Liverpool at the top of the table and I think they’ll be able to get another win here, although they should have to fight a little bit harder for it.
Everton have a good record at home against the Big Six and that might be because their game plan becomes a little more simplistic. Everton are unbeaten in their last four outings against the Big Six (W3-D1-L0) so they’ll be confident of being able to put in a good performance.
I like the angle of Draw/Manchester City in the Half-Time/Full-Time market at 18/5 (Martahon). City will most likely be the aggressors in this match but I think Silva will get a response from his players before ultimately succumbing to the defending champions’ superior attacking quality.
Another angle I like is Kevin De Bruyne to bag himself a goal. The Belgian is 14/5 (Moplay) to score at anytime; he has two goals in the Premier League this season and I think he’s a great chance to add to that. De Bruyne is one of the key players in this City side and he could be given plenty of opportunities to shoot from distance with Everton likely to sit in for large parts of the match.
In the cards market, Richarlison to be shown a card at 4/1 (Bet365) appeals. The Brazilian has been booked twice in eight club games this term and we have seen in the past that he can find his way into the referee’s notebook. Last season he picked up six yellows and a red across all competitions.
You would imagine Richarlison will have to do a fair bit of work without the ball in this match, which could lead to him becoming frustrated. Hopefully for us that’s the case and at 4/1 I think it’s a good way to gain a bit of interest.
