European Football Tip | 5th October 2014

HE’S racked up five winners in his past seven European NAP’s so it makes sense to listen to Mark O’Haire’s (@MarkOHaire) latest continental fancy.

Real Madrid v Athletic Bilbao | 20.00 | Sky Sports 5

I’m heading to Madrid for a triple-header of La Liga action from the Spanish capital this weekend, so it makes sense to choose a bet from one of the games as my best on the continental card. And it’s Sunday night’s clash between Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao that catches the eye.

Madrid have bounced back from their derby defeat to Atletico in stunning style, smashing 20 goals in their four proceeding games. Admittedly, they were a little sluggish at Ludogorets in midweek but hey, they still scored three!

It spells trouble for Athletic. They’ve endured a difficult opening few weeks. Ernesto Valverde’s team have lost four of their opening six league matches, failing to even score in four of those. And on the road, the Lions have lost all three fixtures. In midweek they were beaten at BATE Borisov and they’ve looked a shadow of the side that knocked Napoli out of the Champions League back in August.

With Real scoring for fun, hitting at least two goals in 36 of their past 38 home fixtures and the price on Over 2.5 Goals far too short to entertain, it may pay to look in the first-half markets. BetVictor have priced up Over 1.5 first-half goals at 39/40, a great value bet.

Backing this selection would have paid out in Real Madrid’s last seven outings and with such attacking riches at their disposal, looks the best way to profit from Sunday night’s showdown with struggling Bilbao.
