Euro 2020 Qualifying: Still to seal Euros spot with routine success

Switzerland

QUALIFYING for Euro 2020 continues on Monday and Tom Love (@TomLove_18) is on-hand to unearths his favourite fancies.

Gibraltar v Switzerland | Monday 18th November 2019, 19:45 | Sky Sports

There’s not an awful lot riding on the majority of the fixtures this Monday bar Group D. The crunch tie between the Republic of Ireland and Denmark has been covered excellently by my colleague Mark O’Haire and the Danes know they go through should they avoid defeat, whereas it’s a must win for the Irish.

Switzerland have a much easier test, if you could call it that, as they visit minnows Gibraltar. A win is expected for Die Nati and that would see them guarantee their place at the Euros next summer.

You’re not going to get rich backing the visitors at best price 1/33 but it will be a case of ‘get the job done’ I reckon so I’ll chance the 20/23 (Coral) on the Swiss winning a game featuring fewer than five goals.

Vladimir Petkovic has done a solid and consistent job with the players at his disposal and his sides are always competitive. The Bosnian-born gaffer is largely a pragmatic operator who sets its side up to be hard to break down first and foremost. That’s been shown in the results with each of their last four victories seeing Under 4.5 Goals, keeping a clean sheet in each.

Gibraltar have been the whipping boys of the group and the team on the rock would’ve been delighted to collect any points in this campaign. It would be fair to say that a lot of their players aren’t even full-time professionals. The hosts have failed to score in nine of their last 10 games and it would be a shock if they got on the scoresheet here.

It could end up being like a training game and I expect a comfortable away win but for Gibraltar to not be embarrassed.

Spain v Romania | Monday 18th November 2019, 19:45 | Sky Sports

Spain have strolled to qualification with seven wins and two draws in their nine games, and they’re expected to round off their campaign with a win at home to Romania in Madrid.

La Roja have recently failed to get a win in their two trips to Scandinavia with stalemates at Norway and Sweden. In their own country they’re excellent though; 22 wins in their last 28 games is good going and a large proportion of those wins have been comfortable.

In fact, 17 of those 22 triumphs have seen three or more goals. With that in mind, I’m all over the 7/10 (Coral) on Spain to win and Over 2.5 Goals. Admittedly it isn’t the biggest price but it’s as short as 4/7 elsewhere so we are getting a decent bit of value.

Romania faltered at home against Sweden in a massive match in Bucharest a few days ago. They had to win that game to have any chance of getting a top two berth but goals from Marcus Berg and Robert Quaison shattered Tricolorii dreams.

In all honesty, even if Romania had won that game they may not have progressed as this is their toughest test of the qualifying campaign and the Swede’s have a straightforward home game against Faroe Islands to round things off.

Either way, they will be down and I think Spain could take them to the cleaners here. La Roja hit Malta for seven on Friday in Cadiz and they’re still an irresistible proposition going forward. Dani Olmo has come into the squad and got a goal, Pablo Sarabia, Paco Alcacer, Gerard Moreno and Alvaro Morata have all had decent seasons and there’s goals everywhere you look.

I’ll also have a dabble in the Correct Score market and Dutch the 4-0 and 5-0 at 19/2 and 19/1 respectively – both with Bet Victor. This works out at just under 6/1 when setting stakes accordingly which I think looks like good value.

Spain are ruthless at home and Romania don’t pose a major threat going forward – Florian Andone may miss this one again which leaves the visitors with a dearth of strikers.
